7 Ideas to Help You Achieve Your 2023 Sales and Business Goals
Read time — 6 minutes
Hey bud,
Do you feel stressed because it’s nearing the end of 2023, and you still have a ways to go toward the goals you set for your sales or business?
If you’re running after an important goal for the year and you’re excessively stressed, you are holding yourself back from achieving that goal.
Here’s what people experience when they’re too stressed about their goals:
Burnout
Reduced creativity
Decreased motivation
Impaired decision-making
Negative self-talk
Sound familiar?
In this letter, I’d like to share with you 7 ideas that will help you reduce the amount of stress you have toward your goals so that you end 2023 with gratitude, joy, and fulfillment.
But before that, a reminder.
The Winning Your 2024 Online Workshop will be happening on the last week of December.
In the workshop you will learn how to achieve your sales and business goals in 2024 in a calm and relaxed state (rather than a stressed and anxious state).
If you are interested to attend the workshop, hit the ground running in 2024, and make it your best year ever — reply to this email the word “Winning” to signify your interest.
Let’s get into the letter.
1. Celebrate Small Wins
If you want to have a good amount of momentum, start by looking back at the small wins you’ve already achieved this year.
Those small victories will help you get into a good headspace so that you can start to feel excited about the progress you create.
By recognizing and celebrating these milestones, you add on to the overall success narrative of your business.
Progress isn’t just about reaching big achievements, but also about appreciating the small steps that lead up to the big wins.
So, take a moment to celebrate and recognize the small wins on your journey in achieving your 2023 sales and business goals.
2. Reflect on Lessons Learned
In the chaos of chasing this year’s goals, take a moment to reflect on temporary defeats.
Those setbacks are a great source of lessons that when applied, can help you reach your goals faster.
It’s not enough to just keep making mistakes, you need to reflect on them to avoid making the same ones in the future.
Setbacks are stepping stones to success.
Learning from them allows you to enhance your skills and strengthen yourself against future storms.
3. Put Yourself in A Supportive Environment
It is said that you are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with.
In this final stretch of the year, spend time with people that already have the results that you want — mentors.
Spend time with people that are on the same journey as you — peers.
Why?
It will allow you to acknowledge each other’s wins and progress and create a positive feedback loop that will shift your state into a productive and empowered one.
It will allow you to be motivated and to motivate those around you to step into excellence.
It will allow you to learn from others on what they’re doing well and what you should avoid doing based on their mistakes.
Similarly, they can learn from your experience as well.
So, identify 5 people and reach out to them (after reading this letter) and do so in a way that your are interested in THEM and their journey.
They will be more willing to collaborate if you are coming from a space of giving and adding value.
4. Set Realistic Milestones
If you feel overwhelmed by all the things you need to accomplish, you need to break them down into smaller and more digestible chunks — or milestones.
There are about 3 weeks left in 2023, so set realistic weekly milestones that are indicators that you’re on your way to achieving your goal.
Setting unattainable targets in these last 3 weeks will only activate your stress response and it will do more harm than good.
Be unrealistic in the long term, but be realistic in the short term.
Realistic milestones will give you a sense of achievement, sustaining your motivation throughout this final stretch of the year.
5. Embrace Flexibility in Planning
There are many ways to accomplish the goal you have.
If you find that a particular action plan hasn’t been getting you the results you’re expecting, it’s time to consider other options.
Be rigid about your goals but be flexible in the ways to achieve them.
A flexible mindset enables quick adaptation, allowing you to take advantage of opportunities and overcome uncertainties effectively.
6. Foster A Growth Mindset
A fixed mindset will encourage you to give up at the first sign of difficulty or struggle.
A growth mindset allows you to learn from temporary setbacks and defeats.
This is where reflection is imperative.
Take account of the difficulties and obstacles you faced this year, and ask yourself what you need to learn to overcome those obstacles in case you face them again in these last 3 weeks of the year.
Remember this: You are achieving the goal not for the sake of achieving the goal, but rather for the transformation and evolution of who you become in achieving the goal.
7. Continuous Evaluation and Adjustment
Evaluate your progress weekly and adjust your strategy accordingly.
This can be something as simple as writing down the answers to these simple guide questions:
“On a scale of 1-10 (10 being highest), how well did I do this week in relation to my goals?”
“What worked for me that allowed me to have this self-rating?”
“What can I do better this week so that I can increase my self-rating by at least 1 point?”
Regular monitoring allows you to intervene and change strategies when necessary, ensuring you are on the right path to achieving your goal.
In Conclusion
Recognizing your progress is not just something that can boost your motivation levels — it’s a strategic tool that can transform the outcome of your 2023.
By celebrating small wins, learning from setbacks, fostering a supportive environment, setting realistic milestones, embracing flexibility, cultivating a growth mindset, and continuously evaluating and adjusting, you create a way to end 2023 with gratitude, joy, and fulfillment.
I share these with you because I want you to win.
You got this!
You deserve to win. And I’m rooting for you.
I hope this letter was helpful.
My goal in writing these letters is to help empower you with ideas to help you build self-confidence which can ultimately lead to an abundant life.
Imagine a world where everyone is abundant — where they are more than willing to give and help others.
That’s a world I want to live in, and I need all the help I can get in co-creating that world.
By working on yourself and striving to become a better person each day, you already help me in co-creating that world.
Thank you for doing that.
