Hey ,

I learned about the world of personal development and life coaching when I attended a Tony Robbins seminar back in 2015.

I was 20 years old at the time.

Now, Tony is someone who really inspires me (to the point that I decided to pursue life coaching as my line of work).

He’s changed millions of lives.

How?

By using: NLP—or Neuro Linguistic Programming.

He defines it as “The science of programming your brain to achieve the objectives you want in life.”

In today’s letter, I want to share with you the psychology behind NLP (and how it gives you no choice but to achieve your biggest dreams when used correctly).

What is NLP?

Founded in the early 1970s by John Grinder and Richard Bandler, NLP gained popularity in the 1980s, especially in personal development and business circles.

People recognized its potential for improving communication, overcoming fears, and achieving goals by modifying the unconscious biases or limitations of an individual.

It’s a framework to understand:

  • Neuro: How your brain processes information

  • Linguistic: How language shapes your thoughts

  • Programming: How your habits and beliefs create your life

In short, it’s a study of how you can change how you think, feel, and act — to attain a desired outcome.

I’ve helped many clients overcome inner obstacles and blocks, heal from trauma, and find solutions to their dilemmas in sometimes just one session by using NLP.

You might think it, but NLP isn’t woo-woo magic:

It is part of the very subconscious of your brain, where:

Your beliefs, patterns, and internal set of rules control your life.

All of these were founded on your sensory experiences of the world.

And 95% of your thoughts, behaviors, and actions lie in your subconscious mind.

When you know how to influence your subconscious mind, you then can influence a great majority of your daily thoughts, behaviors, and actions.

How NLP Helps You Achieve Success by Changing Your Beliefs

Here are 3 steps grounded in NLP that can help you achieve your biggest dreams by changing your beliefs.

Step 1: Identify Limiting Beliefs

A belief is just a thought or story that you keep telling yourself.

And the stories you tell yourself create your reality.

If you believe “I’m not good enough”, you’ll act in ways to confirm it.

NLP helps you challenge and replace the limiting ones with empowering ones.

To start changing your limiting beliefs:

  • Identify the belief

  • Question it

  • Reframe it

For example, “I’m bad at speaking, I always stutter”

Question that belief.

Are you really always bad at speaking and always stutter?

Does that happen ALL the time? Or is it just sometimes?

Is it possible that there are times that you are actually good at speaking and that you don’t stutter?

Now, reframe that belief into: “Any time I speak I improve”.

Associate it with a stronger, positive belief instead like “I am a work in progress and continue to improve everyday.”

Step 2: Change Your Language

Words are powerful. They shape the way we feel and think.

It can either

  • Destroy you or

  • Make you succeed

Here’s why:

  1. Notice phrases you say to yourself like: “I can’t, I’m too bad”

  2. Reframe positively:

“I can’t” → “I’m learning”

“I failed” → “I learned”

The more specific you are, the better.

Step 3: Visualize your Success

Your brain processes the world through your senses.

What you see, hear, feel, taste, and smell.

Visualization works because your mind can’t tell the difference between a vivid mental image and reality.

This allows you to “reprogram” how you react to situations.

Now that you identified your limiting belief, and changed your language around it, it’s time to change the image in your brain:

  • Picture the representation of the limiting beleif in your mind

  • Make it smaller and distant (repeat this until is looks so small seems so far away)

  • Replace it with a positive, bright, and colorful image representing success

And finally, don’t forget to act:

In Conclusion

NLP works.

I’ve worked with many clients and incorporated NLP Processes in our sessions and they report feeling powerful internal shifts that change the way they show up in their lives and businesses.

  • NLP targets the subconscious mind, where habits, beliefs, and emotions are stored, making change faster and more effective.

  • NLP rewires how you process experiences through tools like visualization and language shifts.

  • NLP focuses on practical solutions, not just theory.

By targeting the subconscious mind, the core level of who we are, NLP gives a fast, effective way to create meaningful change in your life and business.

Through processes like reframing beliefs, shifting language, and visualizing success, NLP empowers you to rewire the way you think, feel, and act.

As a result?

You stop being held back by old patterns and start creating the life you truly want.
