Did you know that things in this world are created twice?

They are first created in our minds, and then they are created in our physical reality.

Take a look around you right now. Each material object you see was once a construct or an idea in someone’s mind before it came into being.

Well, what if I told you that this goes beyond physical objects?

What if I told you that you can experience your dream life starting with where you place your focus and your attention?

This is possible because of the law of attraction.

According to Earl Nightingale:

“We become what we think about.”

That is the essence of the law of attraction.

You experience in your life what you think about most of the time.

Experiences born out of your persistent thoughts and desires are your “manifested” results.

Manifestation then is the practice of creating something or turning something from an idea into a reality.

It is turning your desires into experiences.

I remember back in 2015, I was 20 years old, I was “forced” to attend a Tony Robbins Seminar in Singapore (c/o my parents).

It was my first time to attend a workshop or seminar related to anything involving personal development.

As I listened and watched Tony Robbins facilitate the seminar, I was in awe of the kind of work he was doing.

I admired how confident he was on stage, how influential he was in moving people to action, and how helpful he was to the lives of others through his work.

I told myself: “One day, I want to be just like that.”

At the time the idea scared me. Although I was afraid of speaking in front of an audience or a crowd, I kept that idea in my mind for years.

Fast forward to today, among the many things I am involved in, facilitating learning sessions and workshops are what I most enjoy doing for work.

Unknowingly, I used the law of attraction to manifest the kind of work that I do today.

Through the years I have manifested more things and experiences I desired in my early 20s- the current monthly income I receive, the awards from my financial advising career,  and even the beautiful relationship I have with my wife.

As I manifested more and more, I started to see a pattern.

Repeating certain steps would lead me to eventually fulfilling my desired outcomes.

Here are 3 steps on how you can also turn your desires into reality.

Step 1: Train Your Thoughts

Your mind is so powerful that you can change your entire life just by the quality of your thoughts.

According to Napoleon Hill in his book, Think & Grow Rich:

“Truly, ‘thoughts are things,’ and powerful things at that, when they are mixed with definiteness of purpose, persistence, and a burning desire for their translation into riches, or other material objects.”

Everything you create in your life starts with your thoughts. It starts with an idea of what you want.

What you focus on influences your emotions, which influences your actions, which eventually influences your results in life.

So, focus on what you want long enough and you will eventually have it.

What’s challenging is maintaining that focus.

It’s easy to focus on what you want when life is good. But when life isn’t that good, it becomes difficult to maintain that same focus.

Train your focus.

Train your mind to think positively as a default.

You get what you focus on for a long enough time.

Remember, life happens and many people experience what they don’t want because they focus on the exact thing they don’t want-

“I don’t want to fail.”

“I don’t want to be overweight.”

“I don’t want to be alone.”

“I don’t want to be broke.”

The mind leads the body. Our brain is wired to lead us to what we focus on.

This is thanks to our Reticular Activating System, which I went over in the previous issue.

While it’s good to have the awareness of what you don’t want, focusing too much on that causes you to self sabotage.

Use that awareness and spend time focusing instead on the opposite, which is, what you DO want.

Doing so is the starting point to manifesting what you want in your life.

Something you can do is to start training your mind to look for the good no matter what situation you’re in. Look for silver linings and practice focusing on what you want.

Now, while thinking positively and training your focus are important aspects to manifesting what you want, it is not enough to just stop there.

Step 2: Work on Your Emotional State

Emotions are our ultimate resource.

How we feel on a given day can spell if that day will turn out to be a great day or a bad day.

According to Peter McWilliams:

“Emotion is energy in motion.”

This is a great way to view emotions since our level of energy dictates our level of productivity and action.

Additionally, Tony Robbins talks about a concept called the “Emotional Home.”

This is the default emotion we are used to feeling on a regular basis.

We feel a wide range of emotions on a day to day basis. However, our emotional home is what we return to feeling at the end of the day.

A single emotion experienced for weeks becomes someone's mood.

That mood experienced for months becomes someone’s temperament.

That temperament experienced for years becomes someone’s personality.

And it all began from an emotion.

People’s emotional homes eventually become their personality.

Some people’s emotional homes are “disempowering” emotions like anger, sadness, guilt, and shame.

If these people don’t learn how to shift into a different emotional state, it will take a massive amount of effort to manifest what they want in life no matter how much “positive thinking” they do.

Other people’s emotional homes are “empowering” emotions like love, joy, gratitude, and bliss.

These people will have an easier time manifesting what they want in life.

Well, what if I told you that you can train yourself to regularly experience empowering emotions?

Training yourself to do this will shift your entire experience of your life.

This isn’t to say that “disempowering” emotions are bad and that we should never feel them.

These emotions are a part of the human experience, and not allowing ourselves to feel them do more harm than good.

In future newsletters, I’ll share about emotional mastery and how to “flow” with your emotions in a healthy way.

For now, something you can do to use the law of attraction in your favor is to imagine what it would feel like if what you want was already yours.

Imagine your desire has already manifested and was already here.

Would you feel happy? Grateful? Joyful? Excited?

Whatever your answer is, your goal is to feel this emotion on a regular basis because this would allow you to take action coming from inspiration instead of desperation.

Step 3: Inspired Action

The last step is to make use of the previous 2 steps together and take action coming from inspiration.

Inspired action happens when positive thoughts align with elevated emotions which causes taking action to feel almost effortless.

What many people get wrong about the law of attraction is that they think that you can just sit on the couch all day, thinking positively, and you will get what you want without taking any action.

I learned from John Assaraf that the law of attraction doesn’t work without “GOYA,” meaning “Get Off Your Ass.”

Action is even in the word “Attraction” itself!

There is no attraction without “action.”

So while it’s important to have a positive mind and empowering emotions, you still need to take action to manifest what you want in your life.

Tying it Together: Think As If, Feel As If, Act As If

Here’s one last tip on how to use the law of attraction to manifest the life that you want.

You can say to yourself:

“What if I already have what I’m trying to manifest? What thoughts would I have on a regular basis? How would I feel on a regular basis? What actions would I take if I think and feel this way?”

Use this thought process as a guide to using the law of attraction in your day to day life.

Think, feel, and then act from the end state.

Disclaimer

After learning about the law of attraction, some people unfortunately blame themselves for the existing negative results they have in their lives.

They think “If the results in my life are because of my thoughts, does that mean I manifested all these negative things I am experiencing?”

This internal conversation only causes disempowering feelings of blame and regret.

If you find yourself in this headspace, I suggest to shift your internal monologue to this:

“I accept where I am now and I recognize the power of where I place my thoughts. I choose to take responsibility for my thoughts from here on out so that I can start creating the life that I want.”

This new conversation allows you to come from a headspace of taking responsibility rather than blaming yourself or blaming others.

Understand as well that the time frame that results arrive are different from person to person.

Trust the process.

If you find yourself frustrated that the law of attraction “isn’t working for you” because you haven’t seen results, then know that you are in the headspace of lack which only causes more lack to appear in your life.

Shift your thoughts, emotions, and actions and that will shift your overall experience.

Again, think and feel from the end state of already having what you desire, and then act.

Do this repeatedly for a long enough time and you will have everything you desire in this life.

You deserve it.
