Hey bud,

This week’s letter will be a short one.

I wanted to share an idea that I realized during one of my conversations with my wife.

And it happened in Singapore.

Singapore Trip

This week, Bea and I flew to Singapore for a 5-day trip.

She had a work event to attend, and I… well… tagged along as a tourist. Haha.

We had just enough time together though to go sightseeing, shopping, and look for good food to eat.

I’m grateful for the experience and for opportunities to travel with my wife.

It’s one of the things that I aim to do regularly with Bea while we don’t have little ones yet.

Realizations

One of the evenings in our hotel room, we had a conversation about work.

We talked about what we wanted to do in the future and what milestones we needed to hit so that we’re making concrete steps towards that future.

This conversation kind of led us to the work and jobs we’ve done in the past.

It made me reflect on the things I’ve been working on until this point in my journey.

From being in life insurance sales, to getting into personal development work, to helping out as a consultant in our family businesses, to facilitating workshops, to now working on building a coaching business online.

I noticed that every 2 years, my focus would pivot and I’d want to start working on a different thing.

Bea then said: “While it’s good to pivot and follow what you feel is right for you, it also takes time and consistency to build something great.”

Which I agreed to. I can’t build something great if I keep pivoting and chasing the next shiny thing every 2 years.

This idea kind of made me reflect and I realized something.

While I have been pivoting and shifting my focus every so often, everything I’ve been doing has been stepping stones to help me achieve one thing:

Freedom.

Time freedom, financial freedom, and location freedom.

Being able to work when I want, being able to earn as much as I want, and being able to travel or live wherever I want.

This is what an abundant life looks like to me.

So far I have one out of the three: Time freedom.

I’ve worked away from having to clock-in and clock-out and having someone tell me exactly what I need to do and when I need to get it done by.

With this business I’ve set up, I’m working on achieving the other two.

I’m now working away from being constricted by my financial capacity by focusing on growing my income.

I’m also now working away from being tied to a specific location (which comes after financial freedom).

I’m realizing that this is another reason why I do the work that I do.

As I achieve certain levels of freedom, I want to help other people achieve that for themselves as well.

And you might think “Zach, that kind of life isn’t for everybody.”

To that, I would say that I agree. It isn’t.

But I’m not trying to help everybody.

I’m trying to help those that want it.

I’m trying to help those that are willing to work towards it.

And if that’s you, you’re in the right place, my friend.

Coaching Spotlight

Before I conclude this letter, I want to highlight one of the coaching conversations I had this week.

Funny thing is that it’s my own mother. Haha.

She reached out to me because she wanted to find clarity and balance regarding a family matter that was making her upset.

I listened first to the context of what she was going through, and then asked her some clarifying questions to get to the core of why she felt the way she was feeling.

I helped her see different perspective of the situation and she eventually found that clarity that she was looking for.

And from feeling upset and even angry, she was able to shift her perspective and started to feel love and kindness once again.

Here’s what she said after our conversation:

(Beboot is my childhood nickname lol)

You are sometimes just a perspective shift away from feeling good again.

In Conclusion

I’m grateful to be in a position where I can be of help to others.

My hope is with the work that I’m doing and with further and further clarity I’m receiving throughout my journey, I can help more people while creating my dream life for my family in the process.

Wishing you guys a wonderful week!

All the love,
All the power,

— Zach Marañon
