Why You Feel Stuck at the Same Income Level
Have you ever felt like there’s this glass ceiling—
That no matter how hard you try, you can’t get past a certain level of income?
You work harder.
You try out new strategies.
You push yourself day after day.
But it’s like you’re running on a treadmill… moving, sweating, exhausted… but not actually getting anywhere.
For the longest time, I thought the solution was just to work harder.
But what I eventually learned was this:
Working harder is only a temporary fix.
People stay at a certain level of income because of their Money Thermostat.
A thermostat in a house controls the temperature in the house.
Let’s say a thermostat is set at 22C.
If it gets hotter lol and the temperature goes up to 24C, the air conditioning kicks in and brings it back down to 22C.
If it gets too cold, the heater will kick in to bring it back up to 22C.
The same thing happens with your subconscious mind, except with money.
Your Money Thermostat is your subconscious set point for how much success, income, and abundance you believe you’re allowed to have.
Because of this, you’re comfortable having a certain amount.
Not too much more.
Not too much less.
Your subconscious keeps you in a certain range.
Why?
Because it feels safe.
And one of the major roles of your subconscious mind is to keep you safe.
So, what determines your Money Thermostat?
Is it how hard you work?
Is it how smart you are?
No.
It’s what you believe you’re worth.
Specifically, it’s what you subconsciously believe you’re worth.
So you may consciously believe that you’re worth $1,000,000.
But underneath?
Subconsciously, you may believe you’re not worth very much.
And it’s what your subconscious believes that determines how much money you keep.
An indicator to know what your subconscious believes right now?
Take a look at your life,
It always shows you what you believe you’re worth.
So, what set your Money Thermostat originally?
Your childhood experiences.
Maybe you grew up hearing:
"Rich people are selfish."
"Money doesn't grow on trees."
"Be grateful — wanting more is greedy."
Or maybe you grew up in an environment where staying small was safer than standing out.
Those early experiences wire your subconscious with rules like:
“If I have more, I’ll be judged.”
“It’s dangerous to want too much.”
“Success makes people abandon me.”
So even when you consciously want to grow, your subconscious is running an entirely different program.
It’s like driving with one foot on the gas and the other on the brake.
And here’s the thing:
Until you update your Money Thermostat, no amount of strategy, action, or hustle will fully get you through that invisible ceiling.
You’ll keep hitting the same revenue levels.
You’ll keep burning out at the same points.
You’ll keep feeling like “something is wrong with me” — even when nothing is.
You aren’t broken.
